Five thousand Slovakian police and about 400 Rescue Service personnel will provide security for the meeting between the Russian and the US presidents. The Slovak Army will allocate 400 soldiers for the same purpose.
The authorities developed security measures to protect the participants of the summit from the direction of the Danube River bank. They are going to use armored personnel carriers, various types of special vehicles, such as Alligators, Rhinos, Jackals and Giraffes. During the summit, the situation on the streets of Bratislava will be monitored by helicopters equipped with surveillance cameras.
The security on border checkpoints has been heightened.
The police advised local residents to check the expiration dates for their ID papers and carry IDs all the time during the summit. Residents of Bratislava are asked to report immediately any kind of suspicious activities to authorities. It is prohibited to park vehicles in security zones for the duration of the summit. A police officer will be present on board of each trolley traveling the routes near the Bratislava Grad.
All restrictions will be in effect only for three days, from February 23 to February 25. "Nevertheless, Bratislava will remain a city open to visitors during the summit," sources in the Slovakian interior ministry underlined.
