"Today we have some new ideas concerning the prospects of Russian-U.S. cooperation in the research of the Moon and Mars, for instance, the development of energy resources of the Moon," Mr. Prikhodko said.
According to him, Vladimir Putin and George Bush are to discuss the issues of space cooperation, in particular, from the point of view of the expansion of the legal basis for the implementation of joint projects.
The Kremlin believes that the International Space Station (ISS) project is a vivid example of the scale and mutual benefit of Russian-U.S. cooperation in this hi-tech sphere.
According to RIA Novosti's data, at the summit in Bratislava the Russian side expects the United States to answer the question concerning the prospects of joint work in the space, especially, at the ISS. "The present and former heads of the Russian space sector believe that Russia is the U.S. only partner in many space issues. Our program is not conjugate and the financing is asymmetric," a Kremlin source told RIA Novosti.
However, Moscow comes out against the U.S. attempts to politicize the space interaction and to connect financing to some aspects of our cooperation with Iran. This is wrong, the source stressed.
