MOSCOW, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - About 7,000 former separatists have taken side of the federal forces in Chechnya, Chechen President Alu Alkhanov said.
"About 5,000-7,000 our former enemies are fighting side by side with us against Wahhabites," Mr. Alkhanov said at the seminar on the role of civil society in providing social security in the North Caucasus.
According to him, some of them commit illegal and negative actions from time to time. However, such actions are sometimes committed by policemen who never served in militant units.
"We should not repulse anyone who admits the policy of the Russian and Chechen leadership," Mr. Alkhanov stressed.
