According to Mr. Rushailo, during the meeting he stated that "the republic's election commissions and bodies of power have taken a number of various and efficient measures to ensure open and transparent elections."
In Mr. Rushailo's words, he also informed the Kyrgyz president that CIS observers were positive about holding round tables and conferences on elections, as well as the fact that the election campaign in Kyrgyzstan started only after all candidates for deputy seats were registered. They were also positive about the fact that "the executive power was faced with a task - not to interfere with the election campaign process."
"Thus, equal conditions are created in the country for all candidates for deputy posts at the coming parliamentary elections, regardless of political views," said the CIS Executive Secretary.
He also informed the Kyrgyz president of the pre-election situation in neighboring Tajikistan, where a mission of observers from the CIS was also working.
Mr. Rushailo said humanitarian issues were touched upon during the meeting with the Kyrgyz president.
"Askar Akayev backs the Russian idea of identifying humanitarian cooperation as a priority of CIS activity," said Vladimir Rushailo.
In his words, he also informed in detail the Kyrgyz president of the work carried out by the CIS executive committee to get ready for the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War to be marked on the initiative of the Council of heads of state.
