These figures are the result of the representative poll which was conducted by the Public Opinion foundation in 100 villages and cities in 44 regions, territories and republics of Russia, using the method of taking interviews. Additionally, 600,000 Muscovites filled in questionnaires. A statistical error does not top 3.6%.
Answering the question about the priorities of Russia's foreign policy in the West, 27% of the respondents named the European Union, while only 5% of the polled said it was partnership with the United States. However, a relative majority of the Russians, 46%, think that partnership relations with the USA are equally important for the Russian Federation.
It is interesting that answers in favor of entering the European Union were most often received from people with a higher education (31%), with relatively high incomes (29%) and Muscovites (28%). On the other hand, the studies in this sphere show that these groups are mostly inclined to orient themselves to the Western model of development. Experts believe, however, that contradiction can be explained by the "grudge" which these social groups bear against the West: if, on the whole, 42% of the Russians believe that the attitude to Russia in the world is bad (39% are of a different opinion), 49% of the persons with a higher education and 56% of the Muscovites are sure of the foreigners' negative attitude to Russia.
