MOSCOW, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - Beginning July 2005, Tu-154 aircraft not equipped with radio beacons will not be qualified for flights, Transport Minister Igor Levitin said at an extended board meeting of the Federal Transport Supervision Service on Friday.

"Beginning from January 1, 2005, all aircraft flying over Russian territory will have to be equipped with radio beacons, including one automatic beacon," Service chief Alexander Neradko told reporters earlier.

Although the mass production of ARM-406P and ARM-406AS devices has been launched in the space instrumentation research center, far not all aircraft have been outfitted with them, noted Mr. Neradko.

"Mi-8 helicopters are the most widespread type of aircraft in Russia. Documents for equipping every helicopter with the beacons have not been adopted yet. Therefore, not all air companies will be able to install the devices on their aircraft in 2005," said Mr. Neradko.
