ALROSA TO PARTICIPATE IN SOUTH AFRICAN MINING PROJECTS

MOSCOW, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - The South African Ministry of Mineral and Energy Affairs will support the Russian ALROSA company in the implementation of projects in the South African diamond producing sector, ALROSA quoted director general of the South African department for minerals and energy Sandile Nogxina as saying.

He hailed the company's intention to participate in these projects.

"We are ready to provide you with geological information. The Ministry of Mineral and Energy Affairs will help you get licenses and solve legislative problems, Mr. Nogxina said at the meeting with ALROSA President Alexander Nichiporuk in Moscow on March 3.

He also pointed out good preconditions for cooperation development connected with amendments to the South African legislation in the mineral sphere which extended the access to diamond fields and promoted diamond processing in South Africa.

The forms of ALROSA participation in the development of the South African diamond production will be specified at the next session of the mixed intergovernmental committee for bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the ALROSA press service reported.
