VOLGOGRAD

* Russia's Interior Ministry launches a cultural popularization action dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (March 8-10). The action will include meetings between senior ministry executives and Great Patriotic War participants and interior ministry veterans, and exhibitions mounted by the Central Museum and the Vereshchagin Studio of Artists of the ministry's Cultural Center. The action is being conducted in Russia's large cities in February-May, 2005.

MADRID

* An international forum devoted to democracy, terrorism and security (March 8-11) begins there. The forum is timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on March 11, 2004 in Madrid. Among its initiators are the USSR's ex-president Mikhail Gorbachev, one of the founders of the Madrid Club established in May 2002.

NIIGATA, JAPAN

* The Russo-Japanese commission on natural resources (March 8-9) begins its session. Among its participants are representatives of Russia's Industry and Energy Ministry, Gazprom, administration of the Sakhalin region and Japan's natural resources ministry.

CANNES, FRANCE

* The 16th international investment exhibition "International Property Market - MIPIM-2005" (March 8-11) opens. The exhibition will feature Moscow's investment projects, including the project of a new international terminal for Vnukovo airport.

BERLIN

* Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is scheduled to make a working visit to Germany (March 8-9).
