At the moment Russia and Georgia are partners and allies. However, if Georgia insists on the soonest withdrawal of the Russian bases from its territory, Russia's relations with Georgia will not differ from relations with any other country, the MP said.
"After that, Georgia should not complain of subsequent Russia's economic sanctions when energy carriers will be delivered to the republic at the world prices," Mr. Kosachev noted. "We should explain to our Georgian friends prospects of cooperation with Russia after the withdrawal of the bases," he added.
Konstantin Kosachev is convinced that the Russian bases should not be sold but withdrawn. Otherwise, foreign contingent can be deployed at these bases and Russia will sustain more financial losses in connection with the necessity to consolidate the state border with Georgia.
Georgia should understand that it will solve its problems either independently or with Russia's assistance, he stressed. "The West will hardly help them solve all problems," Mr. Kosachev said.
