And if the first day of the visit of 13 IOC inspectors was spent mainly in offices, they did not feel at ease on Tuesday, during the familiarization with the Olympic facilities. Besides that, eight members of the commission, including its chairwoman Nawal el-Mutawakil from Morocco, are natives of southern countries. Though paradoxical it may seem, this fact can play its role at the moment of the summarization of the commission members' impressions of the visit to Moscow by them.
In everything else the visit passed according to the IOC prescriptions. Mass media representatives are not allowed to approach the Olympic inspectors closer than 50 meters. And from such a distance they have to guess the commission members' reaction to what they see - in the Bitza Equestrian Center and in the Luzhniki Olympic center where they walked on the artificial lawn of he football field and played snow-balls. The commission members also visited the site of the future Olympic Village and of the main press center of the Games on the bank of the Moskva river where a giant industrial zone is now situated.
The IOC inspectors will pass the last two days of the visit in the consultations with the members of the Application Committee and in the familiarization with other Olympic facilities, having left 45 minutes on Thursday for communication with the press.
They will further on set forth their position on the candidate cities in the IOC. And the final decision on the venue of the Summer Olympics of 2012 will be taken at the IOC session in Singapore on July 6.
