According to the press service of the main interior affairs department of the Perm region, the incident took place at a shooting range of the tank division located in the Markovo settlement. Reservists from Udmurtia (a federal republic bordering on the Perm region in the southwest) had arrived there for reserve duty training.
According to the press service, during target practice, Alexander Yakupov, 24, suddenly opened fire at other officers from a Kalashnikov, leaving two people dead.
The officer in charge of the exercise shot at the murderer and wounded him in the back. But the latter also wounded the officer, the press service reports.
Both wounded men have been rushed to hospital. Armed people are guarding Yakupov's room.
Inquiry materials have been submitted to the prosecutor's office.
