An informed source in Osh told RIA Novosti that the building bore visible signs of damage caused by the assault and an ensuing fire. Destroyed office equipment and furniture were visible inside the building.
The square in front of the building is surrounded by the police. Police officers dismantle makeshift shelters and tents set up by protesters on March 18.
The police arrested regional "people's governor" Anvar Artykov, elected yesterday by the protesters, and other leaders of the opposition.
In addition, the police arrested several dozens of protesters, who offered resistance during the assault.
Women, who were among the protesters in the building and on the square, were transported by buses to their residences in nearby villages.
According to data obtained by RIA Novosti, law enforcement officials plan to conduct a press conference in Bishkek on Sunday to explain the official position on the situation.
Early Sunday, OMON soldiers stormed the buildings of regional administration in Osh and Jalal-Abad regions, previously seized and occupied by supporters of candidates who had lost during parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. The protesters demanded the annulment of the elections and the change of power in the republic. They elected "people's" power bodies and started to form volunteer militia units, including cavalry units.
In various regions of Kyrgyzstan, supporters of some candidates continue protest actions, occupying buildings of local administrations and blocking roads and highways.
Until this morning, the police had been maintaining a neutral stand and did not apply forcible measures against the protesters.
Parliamentary elections were held in Kyrgyzstan on March 13. Four hundred candidates competed for 75 parliamentary seats.
