He pointed out that the agenda of the meeting contains two major issues. First, what can be done to assist in finding the political solution of the Chechen issue with participation of those who reject the idea of the use of forcible methods. Secondly, what measures can be taken against terrorism and violence in Chechnya within the legal framework. Kosachev added that the upcoming round table was not a round of negotiations, but rather an exchange of personal views on the subject.
He also said that Chechen President Alu Alkhanov, chairman of the State Council of the Chechen Republic Taus Jabrailov, all representatives of the Chechen Republic in the State Duma and the Federation Council, and also representatives of non-governmental organizations of Russia and Chechnya would participate in the work of the round table.
In addition, Kosachev said, Russian Presidential advisor Aslambek Aslakhanov and, Human Rights Commissioner in Russia Vladimir Lukin are expected to attend the round table.
