According to expedition officials, the climb to the highest mountain on Earth had been postponed because of the threat of public disturbances in Nepal where the participants of the expedition were supposed to arrive before the climb.
"We received an official notice stating that on March 10 the Russian foreign ministry conducted an urgent meeting and decided to warn Russian citizens against visiting Nepal in connection with the threat of public disturbances in that country," the organizers emphasized.
The organizers of the expedition, which consists of 40 best mountain climbers from more than 10 countries, including the United States, Australia, Armenia, Slovenia, China, Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, have chosen an uncharted route for the climb - along the central part of the northern slope of the mountain.
