MOSCOW BEGINS TALKS WITH EU

MOSCOW, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow is counting on productive dialog with the EU on forming four common spaces, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, opening the negotiations with EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner.

"We hope that we shall be able to make our contribution to the accomplishment of the tasks that have been given to us by the leaders of Russia and the European Union. They are: to complete the work on the road maps for forming common spaces between Russia and the EU by the beginning of the Russia-EU summit on May 10," Lavrov said.

He added that during the coming negotiations Russia will consider the questions still remaining on the agenda after protocol extending the agreement on partnership and cooperation to 10 new members is signed.
