MOSCOW, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - After three weeks, Dzhanik Faisiyev's movie The Turkish Gambit, based on Boris Akunin's novel, earned $15 million, said the press service of the First Channel adding that 3,750,000 people had seen the movie.

"This Russian movie has outdone Hollywood blockbusters, such as The Matrix, Troy, Terminator-3 and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Its success can be compared to that of The Night Watch, last year's champion," the press service said.

According to Dzhanik Faisiyev, The Turkish Gambit is one of a few novels combining large-scale events and a fragile and touching love story.

The action is set during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877. Young detective Erast Fandorin (Yegor Beroyev), a volunteer of the Serbian Army, arrives at the headquarters of the Russian Army with a secret report. On his way he meets Varvara Suvorova (Olga Krasko) heading to the headquarters to meet with her fiance.

State-of-the-art effects and computer graphics are used in the movie, however, this is not the main aspect of the Turkish Aspect, says Dzhanik Faisiyev.

He hopes all people watching his movie will feel the spirit of adventure, which kids usually feel in movie-theaters.
