TOURISTS OFFERED TO VISIT BATTLEFIELDS OF RUSSIAN-SWEDISH WAR

PETROZAVODSK, March 21 (RIA Novosti - North-west, Alexei Ukkone) - Tourists will be offered to attend battlefields of the Russian-Swedish War of 1808-1809 in Karelia, in particular, Lake Pyalkyarvi near the town of Sortavala, the press service of the Karelian government told RIA Novosti.

This place saw violent battles between Russian and Swedish troops in August-September 1808.

Tourists will be also shown a theater performance reconstructing fragments of battles.

The examination and reconstruction of these objects is planned as part of the international project "Koljenvirta - history and entrepreneurship". It is organized by the Finish park-museum Koljenvirta located at the site of the Finnish-Swedish battle in October 1808.

Finnish historians regards this event as a part of common history of Russia and Finland. A number of sites on Russian territory are to be included in Finland's museum network.

The Republican center for the preservation of Karelia's cultural heritage objects and the Moscow Interkultura non-commercial organization are involved in the project.
