MOSCOW, March 22 (RIA Novosti) - Paris is not only the capital of France. The name also belongs to a village in the Chelyabinsk Region, South Urals.

The tiny place lives up to its proud name. It finished building a close replica of the Eiffel Tower a few days ago, reports the UralPolit.ru website. The village tower is fifty meters high, as against the original's 300 meters.

It took Paris, Urals, three months and twelve million rubles, roughly $400,000, to build and assemble the tower. The villagers will unveil it in a gala next summer. They are determined, by that time, to have the site spick-and-span, complete with a small restaurant to be named Moulin Rouge.

That is not an end to their ambitious plans-the village must have a replica of the Triumphal Arch, too, say the people of Paris, Urals.

The idea of a mini Eiffel Tower belonged to Kairbek Seilov, district governor. The local purse certainly could not afford the construction, however small the tower was to be. The idea luckily appealed to the bosses of the South Ural Cellular Telephony, regional cellular operator. The company was intending, those days, to place a fifth transmission tower in the district, and the Eiffel project came in handy. Now, the villagers can have a phone talk wherever they like.
