TBILISI, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Georgian government is ready to accept an initiative, coming from Sukhumi, to prepare the grounds for Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili to meet in conference with Abkhaz leader Sergei Bagapsh. Ghela Charkviani, President Saakashvili's press spokesman, made the announcement to the media in Tbilisi today, reports Novosti/Georgia news agency.
Irakli Alasania has been appointed President Saakashvili's personal representative to negotiate on conference preparations. "The Georgian President greets the readiness expressed by Abkhazia to arrange Messrs. Saakashvili's and Bagapsh's meeting, which necessarily requires thorough preparations," said Mr. Charkviani.
Mr. Alasania, Georgian negotiator, is Prime Minister on the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic's government in exile, he added.
