According to Motorola's research, the company remains the leader on the Russian market, though, according to Mr. Tuma, all of the market leaders are doing neck and neck.
In his opinion, Russia's feature is the huge influence on the market, exercised by distributors as well as the lack of the common practice of subsidizing mobile phones by service providers. For this reason, Motorola pays special attention to cooperating with all major Russian distributors.
According to Mr. Tuma, there have been no SG networks in Russia yet, though they have spread all over Western Europe and launched a gradual expansion into Eastern Europe. However, he opined this situation would change soon and stressed that Motorola would be the first to offer new-generation mobile phones in this country.
Mr. Tuma regards his job as the most interesting of those today's market can offer, because Russia is unique.
"Where else can a man head a major company at 35-36? It is unthinkable in the West! And it is no sweat in Russia," he said.
