RUSSIAN PLANE WITH RESCUE TEAM ARRIVES IN INDONESIA

MOSCOW, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Emergencies Ministry plane with a rescue team arrived in Indonesia at 8.55 Moscow time, RIA Novosti was told in the Russian Emergencies Ministry press service.

According to the source, there are 43 rescuers, doctors and cynologists with special dogs trained to find humans on board the Il-76 that landed in Medan airport.

A field hospital of the Tsentrospas has also been delivered to Medan.

"The rescuers' task includes assessment of the situation in the quake-affected regions and rendering urgent medical aid to local population," said the source.

After the situation is assessed, a second team of rescuers will be sent to Indonesia if necessary, he added.
