CSTO EXERCISES START IN TAJIKISTAN

DUSHANBE, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - Joint command and post exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member countries entitled Rubezh 2005 started Saturday in Tajikistan.

RIA Novosti was told in the republican Defense Ministry that the exercises will be held in three stages. The first stage includes operative deployment of the Command and the HQ of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region.

The second stage will plan the use of collective forces in a joint operation.

The third stage will include tactical exercises with live firing at a test range, during which command of forces and means of the collective security system, units of power ministries and departments will be practiced.

The Tajik leadership, the top executives of the CSTO member states' defense ministries, of the CIS antiterrorist center, as well as CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha will supervise the final stage scheduled for April 6.
