MOSCOW, April 3 (RIA Novosti, Olga Lipich) - A requiem mass will be performed Sunday in all of Russia's Catholic cathedrals, for the Pope John Paul II who died in the Vatican last night.

Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, Russia's chief Catholic priest, told RIA Novosti in a telephone interview that he had postponed a scheduled trip to Tver to personally lead tonight's memorial mass in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, one of Moscow's two Roman Catholic cathedrals. "We are praying with thanks for the person who did so much good for people in Russia and elsewhere in the world," the Archbishop said.

According to the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Russia, about a million of its residents identify themselves as Roman Catholics while 300,000 others say they belong to the Greek Catholic Church, which is under the jurisdiction of the Holy See.

There are two Catholic Cathedrals in Moscow - one on the Malaya Gruzinskaya street and another on the Malaya Lubyanka street.
