RUSSIAN RESCUE TEAM FINDS TWO SURVIVORS UNDER EARTHQUAKE RUBBLE IN INDONESIA

MOSCOW, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - A rescue team from Russia has found two survivors under wreckage on the Indonesian island of Nias, devastated by Monday's earthquake, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Press Office told RIA Novosti. The tremors measured 8.7 on the Richter scale.

As part of a relief effort, ministry will set up a make-shift hospital in the town of Gutungsitoli, 200 meters away from the central stadium. Medical personnel and equipment for the hospital are to be brought in by helicopter.

A plane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry arrived Friday morning in Medan, the capital of the Indonesian province of North Sumatra, one of those worst hit by the March 28 earthquake. It brought along 42 rescuers, doctors and paramedics, as well as a make-shift hospital.
