MOSCOW, April 3 (RIA Novosti, Olga Lipich) - The Council of Russia's Muftis has offered condolences to all Catholics in connection with the death of Pope John Paul II, who "had a great authority in the Moslem world."
"John Paul II was a prominent religious and political figure. He was playing an important role in the development of Catholic-Moslem relations," the Council said.
The Council of Russia's Muftis founded in the mid-1990s comprises about 40 spiritual Moslem departments in many Russian regions.
