RUSSIAN SHIPS TO PARTICIPATE IN BLACKSEAFOR EXERCISES

MOSCOW, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Tsezar Kunikov amphibious assault ship has left the Russian Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol to participate in the Blackseafor exercises, the press service of the Russian Black Sea Fleet told RIA Novosti.

"From April 4 to 27 the ships will participate in the Blackseafor exercises. The Tsezar Kunikov will visit the ports of Eregli and Istanbul (Turkey), Burgas (Bulgaria) and Constanta (Romania)," the press service reported.

The Shakhtyor rescue tug left Sevastopol today, as well. It will be involved in search and rescue exercises.

The Blackseafor group comprises Russian, Bulgarian, Georgian, Romanian, Turkish and Ukrainian ships.

"The exercises will last for 24 days, including 13 days of open sea exercises and 11 days of port exercises," RIA Novosti's interlocutor said.

"The crews will practice tactical maneuvers, anti-boat, anti-submarine and air defense and communications, as well as actions of multi-national headquarters," the press service added.

The exercises will also focus on anti-terrorist measures.
