The opus was ordered by the Japanese side, therefore, its premiere will take place in Kobe, Japan, on May 22.
According to Shchedrin, any cello orchestra divisible by 4 can play this opus. Hamlet's Ballad consists of four parts and in Kobe each part will be performed by 250 musicians.
The composer pointed out that the premiere was well organized. He has already received the scheme of placement of all musicians on the stage. In his words, Mstislav Rostropovich and David Geringas promised to participate in the premiere.
Moreover, Rodion Shchedrin writes choral music. The presentation of the collection of his choral compositions took place in Nizhny Novgorod recently. Such a collection was released in Russia for the first time in 20 years, the composer noted.
The collection was released in a shortest period of time and with transliteration, which is a real breakthrough of Russian publishers, Shchedrin said adding that this release was like a miracle to him.
