MOSCOW, April 4 (RIA Novosti) - The Mariinsky international ballet festival (St. Petersburg) marks its 5th anniversary this spring. Therefore, its program will include benefit performances of the Mariinsky Theater's prima ballerinas, Diana Vishneva, Ulyana Lopatkina and Darya Pavlenko, as well as a corps de ballet performance. Diana Vishneva, 29, spoke about her ballet life with the Trud newspaper.

Vishneva is a laureate of the State Prize and the Divine Isadora award.

She appeared on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater for the first time when she was a student. She danced in the ballet Don Quixote.

"At that time I did not regard myself as a star because the demands were strict," the ballerina said.

Ulyana Lopatkina is three years older than Diana Vishneva. This age difference is significant at ballet schools, therefore, the two future stars did not know each other at that time. But they came to the Mariinsky Theater simultaneously. According to Vishneva, she has little in common with Lopatkina even if they dance one and the same parts.

Vishneva believes that ballet, especially, its classical repertoire, is for the young.

The ballerina receives many interesting proposals. She dances in the famous theaters in Western Europe, America and Asia. She loves Japan but wants to live only in Russia and work in the Mariinsky Theater.

I cannot live without this theater where I came in my childhood, Diana Vishneva said.
