According to the department, the conference considered the fight against production and sale of counterfeit money.
"The participants in the conference held on the sidelines of a seminar session discuss international crime of producing and selling counterfeit US dollars, and also present-day trends in the fight against such crimes," the document reads.
On the Russian side, participating in the conference are Konstantin Pirtskhalava, and US Secret Service Attache Michael Merritt.
"Counterfeit money production is one of the leading economic crimes that has acquired an international scale. Therefore, contacts with the US Secret Service have been fostered," the document quotes Pirtskhalava.
According to the press service, 2004 saw the exposure of 32,000 crimes connected with counterfeit money, including over 10,800 cases of dollar imitation. Besides, counterfeit euros to the sum of nearly 700,000 were confiscated.
"Police officers of the economic security squads of the Russian Interior Ministry exposed 51 criminal groups consisting of 127 people last year," the document says.
