MOSCOW, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Anatoly Perminov in charge of the Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos) is for a 30%, or 24 billion rubles ($1 equals 27.94 rubles), funding increase in the space sector in 2006.

"Financing not merely has to be increased to adjust for inflation. In 2006 it is to be increased by 30% in order to put into service the space systems we have in store and which are 80-90% ready for launching. They are 28 spacecraft in average-term readiness until 2008," Perminov said at the RIA Novosti press conference on Wednesday.

This will not only help us replenish the orbital group of spacecraft but also fulfill the goals, which were set by the Russian ministries and agencies, he said.

The project of setting up Russia's integrated space holding has actually won approval, Perminov reported.

"The project of the integrated space holding had virtually been approved as the government required. However, it is not our self-goal: Russian space products are competitive on the world market to this day," he said.

Extreme caution is required in setting it up, Perminov warned.

"We are minutely considering the project, then report to the government and only after that will proceed with our work. We'll try not to make a real mess of things," the Roskosmos chief said.
