According to editor-in-chief Andrei Zolotov, the encyclopedia will contain information on Russia's political, economic and social structure.
"We would like to extend our readers' knowledge about Russia," Zolotov said in a RIA Novosti interview.
Andrei Zolotov, former reporter of The Moscow Times, is currently staying in Washington to present the magazine to American readers. According to him, Russia Profile has nothing to do with agitprop editions, which the Soviet Union released during the cold war.
"We made our magazine a public media, which provides information for authoritative audience," he added.
The Independent Media publishers release 6,000 copies of the magazine for the Russian Information Agency Novosti.
The magazine should let Russian and foreign analysts exchange opinions, Andrei Zolotov noted.
Stereotypes of Russia are typical of the American press. According to the Media Tenor international analytical institute, 50% of over 100 articles published about Russia in the United States in 2004 were negative.
