SOCHI, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia hails Tajikistan's efforts against drug trafficking and will develop cooperation in this sphere, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the press conference following the talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmonov.

"The Tajik president has informed me about the anti-drug trafficking efforts," Putin said.

According to him, Russia will keep rendering military-technical assistance to Tajikistan. Russian instructors are working in Tajik training center, he added.

The handover of military hardware and weapons to Tajikistan will bolster the efficiency of Tajik troops, Vladimir Putin stressed.

Speaking about security issues on the Tajik-Afghan border, the Russian leader said that Tajik servicemen were being involved in the border protection.

Russia is satisfied with the implementation of agreements achieved during his visit to Tajikistan in the fall of 2004, Putin noted.

In his words, Russian companies are involved in the construction of an aluminum plant and some hydroelectric projects in Tajikistan.
