"There is not threat to 23 Russian sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List," she said. The Kremlin and the ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent are under UNESCO protection in Moscow, she added.
"According to our experts, the Russian authorities fulfill their obligations on the presentation and restoration of these monuments attentively and professionally. They need both protection and cultural life," Moreva stressed.
In her words, since 2002 the Moscow UNESCO Bureau has been working in Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova.
Only the historical center of Baku which is increasingly affected by the pressure of urban development is in danger among the UNESCO sites in these countries.
"The experts who visited Baku saw that some monuments were over-renovated and decided to put them on the List of World Heritage in Danger," Moreva reported.
The rebuilding in Baku's center was stopped and the authorities promised to preserve the historical appearance, she added.
"We hope these sites will be put back on the UNESCO World Heritage List. However, it will need time because it is more difficult to return the original appearance than to preserve it," Lyubava Moreva stressed.
