MOSCOW, April 12 (RIA Novosti) - Lufthansa does not rule out establishing a regional joint venture in Russia.

The Russian Transport Ministry press service said on Tuesday that Minister Igor Levitin had voiced the news the other day during his meeting with Lufthansa CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber.

"Mayrhuber did not rule out setting up a joint regional airline by Lufthansa and its Russian partners for domestic services," the news release reads.

The Lufthansa president also confirmed his interest in boosting cooperation between Lufthansa and Sheremetyevo Airport, having stressed that the company had no plans to switch to some other airport.

"At the same time, we will scrutinize the quality and number of opportunities and services provided to our passengers in the airport," he said.

Levitin, in his turn, noted that Lufthansa was Sheremetyevo's strategic partner. He informed Mayrhuber about Sheremetyevo's intent to get a stake in the Sheremetyevo-3 terminal as well as plans to develop the terminal's infrastructure and attract investment in the airport's fueling facilities.

The transport minister also said that in the future all of Moscow's airports would comprise a single system of transport.

"Such a program is being in the pipeline and will have been unveiled by 2006," he underlined.

According to Levitin, Moscow's airports "will be provided with railroads and highways" within two years. This will enable the air carriers to slash the connection time to an hour and a half.
