The court of Illinois has resumed recently hearings of the case of Irma Pavlis, who is charged with murder of her adopted son, 6-year-old Alex in 2003.
Alexander Yakovenko, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry told reporters "undoubtedly, we cannot remain indifferent to the problems that children adopted from Russia face in a new environment, even when they become American citizens." "...We are much concerned about this trial, and hope it (trial) will be unbiased," he added.
According to him, the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Washington is carefully following the development of the case. "On the whole, our representatives in different countries, including USA, are keeping a close watch on the life of children adopted by foreign citizens," said Yakovenko.
