"The temporary limitations imposed on the imports of beef and pork from Brazil, excluding several states, into the Russian Federation will be cancelled starting on April 20", reads the report.
Meat and meat products may be shipped only from those farms which have been certified for supplying Russia with beef and pork and under control of Russian veterinary inspectors, reads the report.
Temporary limitations on the import of meat from Brazil were introduced on September 20, 2004 because of "unstable epizootic situation in Brazil as regards foot-and-mouth disease and a serious threat of its virus being brought to the territory of Russia."
At the same time on April 18 Russia will impose a ban on the supply of meat from Moldova and its transit through Russian territory.
"Starting from April 18 the Federal Service on Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Control will introduce temporary limitations on the imports (transit) of meat and meat products, that is, beef, pork, mutton and poultry, from the Republic of Moldova," notes the report.
It explains that the ban was imposed in order to prevent the cargoes which present a threat of exposure to dangerous viruses, from being brought into the territory of Russia.
