Over 20 girls representing Finno-Ugric ethnic groups of Russia's northwest (the Karelians, Veps and Finns) from Petrozavodsk, Olonets, Kostomuksha, Pryazha and the Leningrad region will take part in the contest, the organizing committee told RIA Novosti.
The girls will appear on the stage wearing modern business suits and high heels as well as national costumes. They will have to carry buckets of water on a shoulder-yoke, demonstrate a good knowledge of language, culture and history of their ethnic groups and perform national songs and dances.
According to organizers, "the most brilliant, intellectual and spiritual girl loving her ethnic group, homeland and its culture" will win the contest.
The contest is organized by Karelian national-cultural organizations and the Republic's culture ministry and center of national cultures.
