Teijo Pankko was born in Finland. He graduated from the Helsinki School of Economics in 1988 and Moscow State Social University in 2002. In January 1997 Pankko became the Alfa Capital chief financial officer. In 1998 he headed the treasury of Alfa Bank. In 2002 he became the bank's chief financial officer. He was responsible for the treasury, the account department, relations with investors and rating agencies.
According to CEO of the International Moscow Bank Ilkka Salonen, Teijo Pankko is "a typical Finn." He is "not talkative but works a lot and achieves good results."
Pankko was appointed Uralsib's chief financial officer. According to Uralsib executive director Alexander Vikhrov, this post appeared after the growth of the corporation. Pankko will supervise the management of assets and liabilities, the treasury, the account department and managing accounting, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Vikhrov said.
Many managers left Alfa Bank to work in the Uralsib company offering higher wages, said former Alfa Bank top manager Yevgeny Bernshtam.
