MOSCOW, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that the US administration was satisfied with US-Russian relations.
"Relations between Russia and the US are very warm and nice," Dr. Rice said in a live interview with Ekho Moskvy radio station. According to her, Moscow and Washington have recently developed the ability to talk about all, even the most complicated issues in mutual respect and cooperation. The secretary of state even praised cooperation between defense departments of the two countries. Cooperation between our defense structures has been the most impressive recently, said Dr. Rice.
She also noted that Russia and the US had been fruitfully cooperating in nuclear non-proliferation.
I think the US and Russia are working efficiently in nuclear non-proliferation. I know that many countries have the potential to develop nuclear weapons but the US and Russia are beginning to implement their non-proliferation obligations, said Dr. Rice.
We should help other countries in their civilian nuclear developments but not nuclear weapons, she said.
Dr. Rice believes that Russia and the US should foster cooperation in non-proliferation of the weapons of mass destruction and nuclear technologies.
No one wants nuclear weapons to get into the hands of bad people. Our goal is friendly cooperation and mutual understanding, she said.
We have made some progress in this direction but the work needs to be continued. I hope that the meeting between the two countries' presidents will promote this effort, stressed the US secretary of state.
