To participate in the event under the auspices of the Russian Science and Culture Center, more than 30 representatives of major Russian higher educational establishments, which provide training in a host of specialties popular with potential Indian students, came to New Delhi. There is a very wide gap between demand and supply in the sphere of education. Given the huge potential of both countries, the latter are quite capable of cooperating and complementing each other," Mr. Baswan, secretary of the Indian Human Resources Ministry's Secondary and Higher Education Department, said during the opening ceremony.
He emphasized the need of cooperation with Russian colleges and universities whose educational standards match the international ones, with education being affordable, he said.
Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vyacheslav Trubnikov said he was "amazed at the success and achievements of India in education."
"The growing bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education is very promising," he stressed.
Russian Science and Culture Center Director Fyodor Razumovsky said the event was aimed at giving a chance to Indian high school graduates, who plan to further study in Russia, to be personally introduced to Russian colleges and universities and the opportunities they can provide.
The exhibition is scheduled for three days.
