Speaking up in the Kremlin at the ceremony of presenting credentials, the Russian president noted that it is on eve of a memorable date, the 60th anniversary of the end of the WWII.
"The day is for us a symbol of the triumph of popular spirit in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our country, the right of all people in the world for a free choice of the path of development," the head of state said.
"The war lessons should promote the cohesion of all the states of the planet in the struggle against the new threats, the most dangerous of which is terrorism," Putin stressed.
He said that Russia is pursuing a firm policy line towards pooling the efforts of the international community in this struggle.
"We are convinced that only all together we will shape efficient multilateral mechanisms to ensure global stability and security," the Russian president said. "Only all together can we create such mechanisms, called upon to be the key factor for onward development and cooperation of the states in the 21st century."
