"It's high-time that sambo should be included in the program of the Olympic games. Sambo is already popular in the 55 countries of the world. Our federation makes sambo popular. We publish books on sambo in Russian and English languages and plan to translate them into other foreign languages, including French and Spanish," Rudman stated.
In order to include sambo in the program of the Olympic games the number of countries registered within the FIAS should be 75. The FIAS prepared a special program, which would enable to fulfill all obligations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the course of the next four years.
Sergei Yeliseyev, the President of the European Amateur Sambo Federation, said in his turn that the interest towards sambo increases from year to year in European countries.
"Four countries joined our federation over the last year. We intend to increase the number of the European Federation's members up to 40 countries," Yeliseyev noted.
David Rudman made an optimistic conclusion - "We will fulfill the plan in the course of the next four years. All IOC requirements will be met and sambo will be included in the program of the Olympic games."
