CAIRO, April 23 (RIA Novosti, Igor Kuznetsov) - Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit to the Middle East will make a historic landmark, says the Egyptian press.

President Putin will appear in Egypt on a routine visit, on its President Hosni Mubarak's invitation, April 26-27.

"The Russian leader's visit will have an epoch-making impact on bilateral relations," says the daily Al-Gomhouriya.

That will be a first visit to Egypt by a Russian top leader within several decades. Significantly, Egypt will be a first Arab country on his itinerary, point out the weeklies Al-Ahram and Akhbar al-Yom.

Russo-Egyptian summiteers will take stock of crucial global and regional issues, Egyptian-based media outlets say. In particular, the agenda will include Mideastern developments, Middle East peace prospects, anti-terror combat, and other matters pivotal for the two countries. The Presidents will also discuss an entire range of bilateral relations.

The Cairo summit will give an impetus to Russian-Egyptian economic partnership, commerce, technological and humanitarian exchanges, and mutual investment. The press highlights, in that context, last year's sizeable increase in the bilateral trade turnover. Commerce is now rising to match the high level of the Moscow-Cairo political dialogue.
