UKRAINE EAGER TO COOPERATE ON UNITED ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT-WITH RESERVATIONS: FOREIGN MINISTER

KIEV, April 23 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine is displaying an interest in partnership on the quadripartite economic environment-within certain limits, Boris Tarasyuk, its Foreign Minister, said to the Ukrainian-based weekly, Zerkalo Nedeli (Weekly Mirror).

"The Foreign and Economic ministries and several NGOs have analyzed the prospects to see that closer partnership on the united economic environment, where it concerns a free trade zone, promotes Ukrainian interests, and will not undermine them in the slightest. We accept it all except what may come as an obstacle to Ukraine joining the World Trade Organization and the European Union," explained the minister.

However, Ukraine will never put up with the emergence of a supranational body in which it will be a mere extra, he warned.

Ukraine will certainly not sign whatever agreements drafted to develop on an economic environment formation framework document, which the previous regime prepared.

"The Parties drafted 93 agreements, of which 29 were regarded as ready for signing. Our analyses have show we just cannot sign them all. A mere 15 to 18 of the entire lot satisfy us," stressed Tarasyuk.

The emergent united economic environment involves Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine.
