In a RIA Novosti interview he mentioned peaceful use of nuclear energy, space exploration and aircraft manufacturing among these spheres.
"Let us not forget that the first research nuclear reactor for an Egyptian Nuclear Research Center in Inshas (near Cairo) was built in Russia. The Center prepared a number of experts in the sphere of nuclear research. Certainly, the expansion of cooperation in this sphere will demand complex political calculations, but it is quite obvious that Egypt must develop this direction of the scientific progress," he underlined.
Dr. Mohammed Farah Abu an-Nur who deals with issues of Russian-Egyptian economic cooperation pointed out that the sides had wide opportunities for cooperation in the spheres of space exploration and aircraft manufacturing, as well. For instance, in joint design of geological remote sensing satellites, meteorological satellites and communications satellites. "Egypt is a bit behind in these spheres, and Russia might help our country to develop these areas," he stressed.
The Egyptian expert also pointed out that the Russian science occupies a world leader in the research in such spheres as physics, mathematics, astronomy, space exploration, biology and medicine, and that might be another direction of the bilateral cooperation in the future.
Dr. Mohammed Farah Abu an-Nur also noted that in the past the Soviet Union participated in the construction of many industrial facilities in Egypt - the Aswan High Dam, the Helwan metallurgy plant, the Nag-Hammadi aluminum plant - and Russia could certainly participate in their modernization and expansion.
