"Our specialists are developing a multifunctional complex to help in containing and eliminating the effects of radioactive, chemical and bacteriological contamination, including the effects of possible terrorist acts", Faleev said.
They are also developing a robotic complex for search and rescue work in extreme conditions and search and rescue rapid-reaction machines. The mobile information-measuring complex Lidar is being perfected. It will discover accidents from a distance and monitor noxious emissions into the air, Faleev said.
This year the Emergency Situations Ministry plans creating systems for operative monitoring the state of submerged potentially dangerous objects and remote probing in the zones of emergency situations, Feleev added. Also in development is a mobile versatile complex for containing and removing leaks of oil and oil products.
A specialized training simulator for chiefs of search and rescue operations is on the drawing boards of the ministry's Civil Defense Academy.
"All our developments will boost the efficiency of work of rescuers and fire-fighters", Faleev said in conclusion.
