CAIRO, April 26 (RIA Novosti's Igor Kuznetsov) - President Vladimir Putin's current visit to Egypt is of an essential importance, says Ahmed Ali Aboul Gheit, the host country's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"The visit is of special importance as it is a Russian head of state's first trip to Egypt within the preceding several decades. It reflects Egypt's and Russia's shared desire to give bilateral relations another impetus," the minister said in a statement he addressed to diplomatic analysts of local media outlets.
President Putin's visit reflects both countries' shared determination to cooperate in every field, stressed Mr. Aboul Gheit. Negotiations during the visit will center round global developments, the regional situation, and prospects to reform the United Nations.
As the Foreign Minister pointed out, Russian and Egyptian stances coincide on many aspects of the Middle East problems.
