LOOSDORF (Austria), April 27 (RIA Novosti Borislav Pechnikov) - An international conference devoted to the 60th anniversary of Austria's liberation from fascism opened in the Schallaburg Castle (Loosdorf) today.
An exhibition entitled Austria is Free was opened by Austria's Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel and Russia's Ambassador in Austria Stanislav Osadchy.
The conference is recalling the liberation of Vienna and Austria's eastern part, including Loosdorf, by the Soviet Army, and the signing on May 15, 1955 of the Austrian state treaty that granted Austria freedom and independence.
A RIA Novosti photo exhibition, "People Who Triumphed Over War", already shown in Vienna before the conference in Schallaburg.
The conference organized by the Russian Embassy in Austria, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, will end on April 29.
