BEIJING, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - China's President Hu Jintao will spend May 8-9 in Moscow. He expects to discuss bilateral cooperation with the Russian leadership, Li Huei, assistant to the Foreign Minister, said to a news briefing today.

President Hu will certainly meet with Russia's President Vladimir Putin. The summiteers are expected to exchange opinions on pivotal global and regional issues of shared interest, and take stock of prospects for ever closer bilateral contacts.

The upcoming Sino-Russian summit will be the year's first, and will have an essential impact on the progress of bilateral strategic partnership, stressed Huei.

While in Moscow, Jintao will also meet the leaders of Britain, France, South Korea, Turkmenistan and Romania, he added. The foreign-ministerial aide did not confirm information about the President's alleged intention for bilateral conferences with the US President and Japan's Prime Minister.

Jintao will attend the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of victory in WWII in Red Square, and lay wreaths to the Unknown Soldier's Tomb at the Kremlin wall. He will meet Russian WWII veterans, in particular, those who fought in China against the Japanese.

The Moscow galas will be of tremendous significance, said Huei, as he pointed out to the Soviet nation's glorious contribution to routing nazism, and its tremendous wartime sacrifices.

The Soviet and Chinese nations were side by side on the war effort, said the diplomat.

Jintao will thank the Russian war veterans for their feats of glory, he added.
