LUXEMBOURG PREMIER DESCRIBES RUSSIA, CHINA AS KEY PARTNERS TO EU, JAPAN

BRUSSELS, May 2 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - Jean-Claude Junker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg, the country currently holding the rotating EU presidency, has described Russia and China as key partners to the European Union and Japan. Junker spoke Monday at a press conference devoted to the 14th EU-Japan summit, which Luxembourg is hosting now.

This is not to say, however, that the European Union and Japan have no disagreements with regard to these two powers. One of the contentious issues is the planned lifting of the embargo on arms trade with China. Japan is staunchly opposed to the idea whereas the EU wants it lifted before June 30, when Luxembourg's presidential term expires.
